Meet The Band

Dom James Jr. is an indie/alt rock collective headed by singer/songwriter Dom James with Jim Bennion on guitar and Jake Gilbert on drums. Formed in the heart of Oxfordshire, UK, their influences span many genres and decades right up to the present day, with a root in classic, alternative and punk rock. The debut album is out on CD and available to stream on all major platforms. Their second album is completed and will be released in 2026.

Dom James is a singer/songwriter and has fronted various Oxfordshire bands including White Trash Nation, Soundblast, Snatch, The Art of Falling Apart and The Hedonists. He's also the author of three spiritual thrillers. His lyrics combine the everyday with social comment and the not-so-everyday.

Jim Bennion has toured across Europe and recorded with various acts for over 25 years, covering numerous genres of music from Funk to Country, Folk to Rock, and almost everything in between.
Jim’s most notable work has been with Culture Club and, more recently, with U.S. vocalist/harp player John Németh (including an appearance on Paul Jones’ Blues Show on BBC Radio 2). He has spent the last 14 years working regularly in and out of the studio with double Ivor Novello Award-winning composer/producer Phil Pickett (Sailor/Culture Club/Paul McCartney).

Jake Gilbert is currently gigging across the UK, mainly around the West Midlands area. He's been playing the drums since he was 4 and enjoys playing live and recording in the studio. He spent 2 years studying 'Music Performance' at BIMM Birmingham. Jake's currently gigging with original band 'Zimmerman' as well as regularly working with the Birmingham-based band 'The Collective'. Jake actively records from his home studio for various projects. He attends local jazz and funk nights and plays with Fayyaz Virji (Jools Holland).
